New Hampshire Sports Betting
Sports gambling has netted the state $4.6 million in tax revenues since launching last December. However, N.H. Lottery Commission officials insist it would have been higher due to the pandemic.
Online and mobile wagering make up the bulk of the action. Two in-person sportsbooks in Manchester and Seabrook are also taking bets. In addition, the legislature approved up to 10 in-person sportsbooks statewide.
The Lottery Commission says that as long as the “sports world remains active and we avoid another shutdown,” sports gambling could generate $10 million in the current fiscal year.
DraftKings In New England
After New Hampshire online sports betting became legal, DraftKings quickly entered the market. As a result, New Hampshire selected DraftKings as the state's only sports betting operator.
DraftKings and Foxwoods recently announced a deal for online sports betting ahead of the anticipated launch of legal sports betting in Connecticut, subject to necessary legislative and regulatory approvals.
Rhode Island Sports Betting
The state debuted retail sports betting in 2018, with online/mobile gambling launching in November 2018. After in-person registration was rescinded, sports betting revenue increased. Mobile registration is now possible.
In early September of 2019, mobile sports wagering platforms were launched, which helped profits to rise beyond 2019 for the gambling industry. The Rhode Island Lottery recently released its revenue report for the year, showing a 171% increase in revenue from 2019 to 2020.
